Consultation with the Cooperating Teacher

Before conducting the lesson, I consulted with my cooperating teacher, Ma’am Aileen, to discuss the lesson objectives, instructional strategies, and class dynamics. I also observed Ma’am Joyce's teaching to understand effective classroom management and student engagement techniques.
Lesson Plan Development and Revision

Based on the consultation, I designed two lesson plans for Grade 7 Science (Biology) covering Ecosystems and Energy. The plans included interactive activities such as ice breakers, group discussions, and games to enhance student participation. After submitting the lesson plans, I received feedback and made necessary revisions to improve clarity, structure, and engagement strategies.
Teaching Preparation

Prior to the teaching session, I prepared the necessary materials, including PowerPoint presentations, activity sheets, and visual aids. I also ensured that the projector and other classroom technology were functional for seamless lesson delivery.
Classroom Teaching

This stage involves delivering the lesson based on the structured lesson plan.
Greetings and Classroom Management
I begin the lesson with greetings to create a comfortable and engaging learning environment while building a positive relationship with the students. Then, I invite them to start the class with a prayer. Afterward, I ensure the classroom is well-organized by asking students to arrange their chairs and remove unnecessary items. I also conduct attendance checking with the help of the class secretary to confirm students' presence.
Review of Previous Lesson and Motivation
Before introducing a new topic, I encourage students to recall the previous lesson by asking simple review questions. This helps activate their prior knowledge and connect it to the new lesson. For motivation, I use an ice-breaking activity called "True or False", where students respond to statements related to the topic. Additionally, I ask thought-provoking questions to stimulate their curiosity about the impact of disruptions in a food chain.
Lesson Proper
The main lesson is delivered in stages, covering trophic levels, the roles of producers, consumers, and decomposers, and the energy transfer in a food chain. I adopt an interactive approach, such as discussions and concept mapping, to enhance students' understanding of the topic.
Group Activity
To reinforce their understanding, I conduct a group activity called "Match with Me!", where students work in teams to match pictures and terms related to ecosystems and energy transfer. This activity promotes collaborative learning and critical thinking.
Generalization and Assessment
After the activity, I guide students in generalization, where they summarize the key takeaways from the lesson. Then, I administer a short quiz to assess their understanding of the concepts taught. As a reflection, I ask students to write down one word that describes how they feel after the lesson.
Evaluation and Reflection

To assess student understanding, I conducted a short quiz and a reflective writing task, allowing students to analyze the impact of species loss on an ecosystem. After the lesson, I reflected on the teaching process, discussed feedback with my cooperating teacher, and identified areas for improvement to enhance future teaching experiences.
Time Management and Organizing Activities
During my teaching practice, I focused on effective time management to ensure that every part of the lesson was delivered smoothly. I allocated specific time slots for greetings, review, lesson delivery, activities, and assessment to maintain a structured flow. To keep students engaged, I balanced lecture time with interactive activities, such as ice-breaking games and group discussions. Additionally, I prepared backup activities in case of unexpected delays or if students completed tasks faster than expected. By following a well-structured lesson plan, I was able to manage the class efficiently while ensuring that all learning objectives were met within the allotted time.
Classroom Management
Maintaining discipline and order in the classroom was essential for a conducive learning environment. I established clear rules and expectations from the beginning, ensuring that students understood the importance of respect, active participation, and organization. During the lesson, I used positive reinforcement by praising students for their good behavior and active involvement. Additionally, I ensured that the seating arrangement was organized, and unnecessary distractions were minimized. To maintain engagement, I frequently asked questions, encouraged collaboration, and used interactive teaching methods that kept students focused throughout the lesson.
Problem-Solving while Teaching and Staying in the Designated School
While teaching, I encountered various challenges, such as students struggling to understand complex concepts or becoming disengaged during the lesson. To address this, I adjusted my teaching strategies, using real-life examples, visual aids, and interactive discussions to make the material more relatable. Additionally, I maintained flexibility by modifying lesson pacing based on students’ comprehension levels. Beyond the classroom, I followed school regulations and maintained professional conduct, ensuring that my presence as a teacher was both effective and respectful to the school's learning environment. When unexpected issues arose, I collaborated with my cooperating teacher to seek guidance and continuously improve my teaching approach.
